Eidolon was born in the noble seat of Earlscastle, as the second son of Varus, Earl of Anbar. Anbar was a critical border province between the Empire of Ballur and the Kingdom of Kelanis. Anbar was enjoying a period of prosperity due to increasing trade and communication between the Dwarves and Men during Eidolon’s childhood, during which he learned spoken Dwarvish from merchants and friends, but conflict with the splinter kingdom of Eluhm was always brewing underfoot. Eidolon’s older brother, Marsoul of Anbar,was training to take his place as Earl of Anbar, remaining in their stronghold of Earlscastle and often travelling to the capital to attend court with the Emperor, but Eidolon joined the armies at 15 and headed off towards Eluhm. Soon, however, he met a man named Colmir, who introduced him to the teachings of Silvanus and the quest for goodness, balance and joy above all else. Studying under Colmir, who he later learned was a Paladin, Eidolon joined his martial experience with a powerful desire to bring goodness to the world. After 6 years studying with Colmir, the Extinction Event occurred. Orcs destroyed Kelanis and flooded into Anbar soon after. When Eidolon arrived back at his home, he found a sea of dispossessed Elves and Dwarves, and starving Menfolk. Though the Dwarves were used to the ways of Men, the Elves brought their rules and sensibilities with them, and refused to either help farm or aid in the hunt, as they had no need for sustenance. Upon arriving at the overrun fortress of Earlscastle, he learned of his brother’s death, aiding the Dwarves in Kelanis, and was given his share of the will; a small amount of gold, a glaive engraved with the Creed of Anbar, and a small glass figurine of a knight. He then swore to his father to follow his brother’s footsteps, and to work towards bringing a time of peace and joy back to Anbar. Setting out, he headed off to the war against the orcs…
